Accommodation in Langtang Valley

Teahouses and lodges can be found along the walking path in the Langtang trekking, which serve as accommodation for trekkers. The standard amenities offered by these lodgings include beds, blankets, and a shared dining space. Even though they might be basic, they provide hikers with a cozy and friendly setting to relax in after a strenuous day of hiking. Remember that facilities can differ from location to location, and for added comfort, we recommend bringing a sleeping bag. To guarantee a place at the desired teahouses or lodges, reservations should be made well in advance during the busiest trekking seasons.

Meals during the trip

The tea shops and hotels along the path provide a range of meals and beverages for you to enjoy on your journey. To accommodate a wide spectrum of trekkers, the menu usually consists of a combination of regional Nepali foods and some Western selections. You can savor typical Nepalese dishes like thukpa (noodle soup), momo (dumplings), and dal bhat (rice with lentil soup), which will give you the energy you need for the hike. Snacks, hot beverages like tea and coffee, and bottled water to remain hydrated are also available. While there may not be as much food available in certain isolated locations, trekkers are usually well taken care of during the trip.

Necessary trekking permits

You will require a trekking permit in order to hike in Nepal’s Langtang region. The TIMS (Trekkers’ Information Management System) card and the Langtang National Park Entry Permit are the two primary permits needed. These permits are necessary for your safety and security as well as for the management and protection of the trekking region. The Department of National Parks and Wildlife Conservation of Nepal issues the entry permit for Langtang National Park, whilst the Nepal Tourism Board issues the TIMS card. We will manage these permits for you upon booking.

Culture and Customs in the valley

The Tamang people make up the bulk of the population in the Langtang region, followed by Magars, Sherpas, and other ethnic groups. The region is rich in Tamang culture and customs. The majority-Buddhist communities in this area have managed to keep their distinctive customs, music, and dances for many years. Numerous monasteries and chortens that represent their religious beliefs can be seen once reaching the Langtang village.

In these regions, festivals like Lhosar (Tibetan New Year) and Dumji (Sherpa festival) are greatly celebrated. The Langtang Valley offers visitors an immersive journey into the colorful past of the region with its warm hospitality, traditional cuisine, and cultural events.

Altitude and Acclimatization

Since we will be reaching high altitudes during the trek, acclimatization will be crucial to avoid potential altitude sickness. We have designed our itinerary hence with gradual altitude gains and included rest days for acclimatization. Further, if you think you have contracted potential symptoms for altitude sickness, make sure to relay the information to your guide.

Pickup from airport during arrival

Our team offers the service of picking you up from the international airport in Kathmandu when you arrive in Nepal after you have booked your trip with us. Our team will contact you via email, phone or text after your booking, and after sharing details, our team will pick you up at the airport and transfer you to your hotel upon arrival.

FAQs

Can I trek without a guide?

Shortly, no. Recently, the Nepal Tourism Board has decided that individual trekking is not permitted to trek in the Langtang region. A trekking guide or assistant must be hired from a registered trekking agency. This is mainly for your safety and to ensure that your trekking experience is better.

Can we buy water in the Langtang region?

We suggest you refill your bottle from natural springs along the way and treat it by iodine or purification tablets. Alternatively, you can also buy bottles of water in lodge/teahouses. But they are expensive, and also adds to the pollution in the region.

How is the trail along the Langtang region?

The trail is relatively easy. The first day, you will see some steep ascents till you reach Lama Hotel along the lush forests of the Langtang region. From there, you will go through a relatively straight path most of the way with some short ascents along the way. The path from Langtang to Kyanjin is the most pleasant path, with straight flat meadows and tall mountains towering over you.
